Another surprising bit is that the car sits higher (now normal) than what it was before I replaced the spheres... and I did not make any adjustments...

Your central sphere may have been flat and this controls the residual pressure when the engine is stopped.

Has the damping changed?

Well, I reckon you need to invite me over for a test-drive now!! That way I can compare it with your White Car.

BenzBoy

But of course....;)
Today is an option...

Is the car more stable as well as being more supple?

It is possible to have some residual air in the system and it takes a while for this to work it's way back to the reservoir and out of the system.

Bill

It feels quite stable... and supple....:p

This morning it was high and had not budged nor was there any trace of oil underneath.

I took it for another drive this morning and I'm still very very happy :D:D:D

It always makes me want to head for the biggest widest traffic control strips at the speed limit and watch the traffic melt behind you while you hardly notice the bumps at all.

He he he - I was doing the same while blasting around for the RWC - aiming for potholes.:D

Well, the 690SEL was truly put through its paces yesterday at the ultimate place... Easter Creek Raceway.

With JoeB at the wheel and Yours Truly in the passenger seat, the 690SEL was pushed in corners and acceleration as well as breaking.

But mainly the cornering was what we were wanted to see how it would perform.

It was simply Brilliant!

Virtually no body roll.. and it hooked to the track....

A little note......

After we returned to the parking area and left the car for a while, the look of the suspension was "funny".

High on the passenger side rear and low on the driver's side rear, the 690SEL worried me.

However, I started it, pulled the knob to the high position, then dropped it to normal and did that again one more time and the suspension levelled itself.

What can I say.... I'm stoked....:D

Thanks again to JoeB for taking the 690SEL to Eastern Creek for me (I was busy with the Queen of Sheba )

I went to the 690SEL this afternoon; (I hadn't seen it or touched it since Sunday).

It had dropped a little at the front, maybe an inch or two.

However, after starting it, it was up within seconds.

What would be the cause?

Hi Michel, give the car a chance to settle after all this work. By the look of things, the pics. of the car on the main straight would indicate that the car is sitting too high by a fair margin. Regards, Styria

It is just likely to be some residual air trapped in the system and as Styria says give it some time.

The other trick is the drive for half an hour on the high setting to push some fresh fluid through and drive out the bubbles.

I am

Tomorrow
3 tonnes of wood/steel/alloy and leather on cross plies and under the control of Commander Malik!! Now it is my turn for palpitations!!
Of course, you can handle a crash gearbox? You remember where to turn on the petrol? You know how to advance the spark? I suggest you leave the cruise control alone in case you can't turn it off.......

BenzBoy
