Personally I prefer semi synth. The new fangled stuff is too thin.

Ah Mark, when the People who designed and manufactured the Product, I tend to listen to them. Recently I saw a Honda Engine which had been destroyed because the Owner had not used the correct Low Viscosity Oil. The Engine has Small Narrow Oil Galleries necessitating thin light Oil, other wise they clog up.

Yes agreed newer engines sometimes demand it. Honda was particularly bad for quite a while when their v6s were self destructing. So bad in fact that warranty claims were closely monitored re the type of oil used and owners were advised to use genuine oil only.

What some fail to realise is the fact an engines oil demands change as it gets older. Thin oil won’t cut it in a worn engine...
