I see what you mean. I have a colleague who has run his Honda Civic for 30,000 kms since new and has not changed the oil. He probably has problems and will not listen to advice. That's his problem...
Seriously though, if this happens at 60,000 miles then what is already there at the normal oil change interval? Regular changes must be good - they can't be anything but good.

I never did take a photo of it, but when I removed the oil filter from my 380SE's engine, I saw something quite ridiculous.

There was a "more recent" filter sandwiched between the "end caps" from the previous filter, plus the conical spring was missing. The whole thing just flopped around in there. I'm sure it would've worked extremely well!
