A very scientific Paper Brian... not for the faint hearted... never the less a clear message.
A friend, in the Motor Trade, successfully negotiated an Engine rebuild on his Daughters 4 year old VW Golf. He was able to demonstrate that the correct VW Spec oil had been used. Apparently there is a special blend to alleviate a weakness in the design/material build of the Turbo/super charger units. I checked the VW Specs for my Turbo Golf and found that a number of Oils now meet VW requirements. Full Synthetic 5/30 or 40 in warm climates ( Here ) Biggest surprise was the variation in prices asked.
By a wide margin was German sourced , Fuchs. OEM to " Mercedes" also BMW and VW.
$35 Trade for 5 litres, from Silver Star Spares in Kingsgrove.

Sean, are you suggesting that $35.00 is all one pays for five litres of Fuchs Synthetic ? If that's so, that's a bargain. Fuchs - obviously a German word, but does it really come all the way from the Fatherland ? Regards Styria
