Electiric seat switch

Any advice would be appreciated in regards to my query.

Headrest retracts up and down just fine.

Drivers seat goes back and forth okay.

Just the drivers back rest does not retract.

So how can this be fixed?

Thought a pic of the switch might help?

Tim it is likely the switch not making proper contact. You could try spraying some electrical contact cleaner in behind the backrest button using the thin tube that comes with the can. You can get it at supercheap, it's really handy to have on hand

Directly spray the cleaner in behind the switch do not have to remove the trim insert?

I have never seen the stuff attack plastics Tim, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't test it first, a small spray on a rag wiped on some trim plastic that is out of site should confirm suitability.
The best way is to remove the switches completely, but if you can get it working without why not

Good news seat switch fixed thanks to the electrical cleaner.

Did not even need to remove the insert three squirts of the cleaner in behind the switch hey presto fixed!

A beautiful day here at home so I washed 300SE and the Yaris today after two weeks both cars look superb!

Eh, come on Anthony - from one gentleman to another gentleman, surely ! Anyway Anthony, you were dead right - I checked my non-Australian complied 420SEL and sure enough, the electric windows are operational without ignition on, nor engine running. Honestly, I am quite flabbergasted. Regards Styria
