Well that IS VERY interesting.... But surely the standard SLC diff centre isn't a 4.08 ratio??

No its not but it must of come from a 4 cylinder Mercedes as lowest in W116 is 3.92 in 5 speed 280s/se

I am pretty sure they were higher than 116 as 420 is higher than 6.9 .

Hi Mark no 280 5 speed manual was 3.92 TJ just wrecked one. If I go with updated transmission I will look at getting 3.46 from 350SE . Still may with gearvendors.

I think that the wheel arch flares and front air dam spoil the body style somewhat, but
if that is what you have to do to go racing, that is what is what you have to do.
I can understand why the integral hard top is required for extra body stiffness.

Actually, my eye also says that the coupe version looks a bit better than the roadster version with standard R107's, although the roadster would be more fun to drive.
The R107 is my favourite Mercedes in terms of body style.

I'm very paranoid about the 500SL AMG. It is a rare piece of history and I would be fussy as to who I sell it to.

As said my moving is currently not my decision lawyers involved . So its a bit messy at the moment. But having sold everything over here I am ready to move as soon as they let me.
