450 SLC - Engine Conversion

I've heard plenty about this car. Local Canberra fella.
The fella who owns it loves building Mercs with big block chev engines..

Most probably say it's sad to see a benz subjected to this, but the fella know's how to build fast cars, and prefers to use the MB bodies, i'm guessing cause of the quality.

Anyway, this has a big block chev in it, not sure what size.. It's tubbed out, and is now his daughters car I think.

If I was going to get an engine conversion to a chev, I'd go see him for sure.

By the amount of air underneath, showing in one frame, it looks as though he may be using a Ford 9 inch locker diff.

Its funny you say that. I've had a long association with rotary engine cars for 20 years, the chassis always being my achillies heel - could never get my RX2, RX3 or RX4 to really handle that well.

Now I've got a 190E which handles brilliantly, all it needs is a bit more poke. I've never seen a rotary in a 190E but if someone had one with a 13B turbo or even a ported weber-carby fed engine I'd but it, no contest.

Meanwhile I continue to develop my turbo M102 engine but heaven help TeamW116 if I get my hands on a rotary 190E.

Ian: I recently sold a 'parts' 190E to the next-door neighbour. He plans to fit a 4-rotor Mazda Wankel to it for track work. He already races an RX-? (7, perhaps?).
