450 D-Jet for sale

Is anyone interested in a 450 D-Jet engine? I'll sell it to anyone here before I head to E-bay... It's still in the car and running. It runs a little rough (no noises or smoke), but it needs a tune and the fuel's probably below par. Tony??

Excuse my ignorance, but what are the differences between the 350 and the 450?
Would there be many common parts I could use as spares for my 350?

Hi Mark, I'd imagine you would have no difficulty selling at that price. Are you able to clarify the difference between 350 D-Jet and 450 ? It's just a bit out of my league. Regards Styria

I'm not really sure what parts are interchangable. The 450 was introduced later in the series with an obviously larger capacity and more grunt. From memory the 350 had adjustable tappets, where the 450 had hydraulic compensators. But I'm not sure if automatic lash adjustment was a feature of all 450s, or whether it was introduced with K-Jet. More research is required me thinks...

Seems the engines fitted to the w116 last longer than the cars - I'm still waiting for that perfect body, blown engine vehicle to transplant my 350 into.....

From what I've seen the 350s were available with both D-Jet (M116.983 - 8/72-12/75) and K-Jet (M116.985 - 1/76 - 6/80). The early versions had slightly less power (147kW vs 151kW), but they had a higher compression (9.5 vs 9) and thus slightly more torque (287Nm vs 285Nm).

The 450s had the same bore as the 350s, but a longer stroke (85mm vs 65.8mm). Early versions with D-Jet (M117.983 - 8/72-10/75) had the same power as the later K-Jet versions (M117.986 - 11/75 - 6/80), but more torque (378Nm vs 368Nm). They also revved 50RPM more than the later units. I'm not sure if this was all due to the emission gear on the later cars...

And so I'll have to check the engine number!
