Hi Michel, it certainly is well priced. Looks straight, but these photos tell you just about nothing.

Come to think of it, I wonder if BenzBoy could make this his next project now that he has sold his lovely silver green 450 ? I really can't understand why so many 450's go at such ridiculously low prices ? Maybe one should describe them as being fitted with the small block 6.9 a la Chevrolet - it would sound so impressive, give them a gnarly exhaust system, a good back seat and away you go. The market is certainly very cruel. I guess the world is full of opportunists wanting to pay nothing, even for a good product. Regards, Styria

The reaction I get from everyone who doesn't own a Benz and sees my collection is:
How can you afford to 'keep' them?

And that is the perception... They cost a fortune to keep.

Another problem is (and especially pertaining to W116/107) is the age.
They are all between 25 and 35 years.... too old to be 'new' and too new to be an 'old' car....

A few more years and the appreciation will show....

I would be happy if I had some land in the bush with a huge shed and simply buy them cheap and put them away... preserve them and save them from the inevitable crusher.

I have a mate of mine who does this with old Chevrolets.... he has more than 200 now...

This car has been on the market for a l-o-n-g time. Its only just in the last week or so appeared on eBay, but was previously on another carsales type site for months and months.

I know this because when I was trying to find a car to become the track car this one was on my list. Its was $999 at the time, and had no photos and only 1 line description.

I ended up with my current 450SE mainly due to: no sunrood, HC non-ADR M117 engine, 15" mag wheels, straight body (but if you look closely at it there is an annoying amount of cancer). But one key reason why the sale went thru was that before and after inspection I was able to negotiate with the seller via email..

I'd sent 2 emails to the dealer selling this green 450SE and both went unanswered, which I find quite off-putting since he's trying to sell the car in an online medium.

It looks pretty good for the $999 he's asking for it... I reckon it might be a suitable track car for anyone so inclined. Being a '77 it would have no wood console, and the LC ADR M117 low-output engine, the motor of which would be (to me) a serious handicap.

If you want a project car Benzboy, I know of a certain enthusiast thats un- officially selling his 79 450SEL. Thistle Green / cream would have a fat wad of bills from where it's been serviced. The only reason that it's up for sale is he's run out of room. The price that was mentioned was around the $5800 mark. I'd go for it, but I'm awaiting the sale of some property + I'd have no where safe to put it either.
