Mercedes CD stacker

The CD stacker which is located in the boot of the C220 will not play CD’s there is a flashing ‘E’, displayed on the radio screen.

I can only imagine the ‘E’, is for an error message would I be right in saying?

Can you please tell me how can the error message be repaired and then I can listen to the CD’s in the car?

The FM/AM radio and the cassette does work but not the CD player.

Are you sure nothing is jammed in the CD stacker?

Hi Michel I have pushed the eject button located on the top of the CD stacker and I can not see anything jammed.

I do miss listening to CD’s.

Have business name and number somewhere at home. That repairs CD stackers they are in Melbourne will look for it or ask house mate he used to install stereo systems

Is it a 6 or 10 stacker? f it's the 6 stacker it's an Alpine unit, try pushing down on the cassette as you push the eject button.

If it helps in any way, I can only confirm that I haven't a clue. May well pay you to fit an alternative unit. I have a good contact for Blaupunkt units, and they are well priced with good quality. Regards Styria

I have a 10 disc CD stacker located in the boot.

I have spoken to Eurovox in Melbourne and I did quote the radio/CD serial number.

To find the out the radio code I would have to fill out a form and pay $25 for the code.

I went to see a local auto electrician he told me to try a CD lens cleaner I haven’t tried out his suggestion yet I wonder if it is worth it will it work?

I would like to keep the radio/cassette & CD player all original with the Mercedes CD stacker.

Eurovox did quote $110 and including there labour to repair the CD stacker and remember to include the postage to send the CD stacker to Melbourne.

As far as I know there is no Eurovox retailer located in NSW but I could be wrong

There is a Becker retailer located in NSW but I doubt Becker would even look at repairing a Eurovox CD stacker?

I was playing a 1980 YES that old Neil Diamond The Jazz Singer cassette whilst driving the car and the sound was terrific.

1980 seems like a lifetime ago and I was only one years old!

Well maybe if the CD lens cleaner does not work I might have to bite the bullet and send the stacker to Eurovox?

Tim $110 is a very reasonable quote. As most places now charge over $100 an hour for Labour. And it will be repaired by a specialist to the product . Most trade places you go to will charge that to look at it.

Try unplugging it and reconnecting it first before removing it.
You have nothing to lose.

Pardon my ignorance but I am guessing that I would have to disconnect the battery in order to carry out what you have suggested?

I have looked in the Owners Manual and the log books I can not see any info in regards to the radio code which is strange?

My last two Mercedes have both had the four digit radio code.

I have spoken to Go-Tech who repair Eurovox radios, CD’s and cassette players.

Go-Tech can provide the radio code which would cost $25 the whole process would be carried out by filling out a form and sent via email.

Hello Tim.
That was not what I was thinking of.
I assumed there must be a plug/socket connection in the boot somewhere .
If you were going to have the unit serviced it would need to be disconnected .
I was proposing you disconnected this connection point in the boot and then reconnected it. It should not affect power to your radio. I am not familiar with the set up,It was a suggestion only if it is not applicable just ignor my comment.
