I have been blessed to have visited the old and new Mercedes Benz museums in Germany many many times in my short life and remember the three pointed star representing air, land and sea.

Just a snippet that may have some meaning. The mother that he sent a postcard to lived in their home located in DEUTZ. Remember that name. I wonder if, indeed, the well known Trucking Manufacturer by the name of "Magirus Deutz" can have its name origins traced to that location in Germany.

Probably, say thirty years ago, if not more, I remember those trucks for the way they sounded - air cooled V8 (?) two stroke (?) with a huge fan that gave them that characteristic sound. I believe the Company may have been bought out by either MAN or MERCEDES BENZ. I am glad you guys appreciated the PDF - I was quite taken by it as I just love reading old and interesting stories. Magirus Deutz Was bought out many years ago, along with many old European truck and heavy vehicle manufacturers by Fiat or the Agnelli family, all of these makes were put together to become IVECO (Industrial Vehicle Co) which now is part of the huge conglomerate called CNH Industrial.
