Lets have a look under:
As you see this is completly free of rust, there is some spots that needs to be brushed and treated with some phosphate primer and touch-up
paint here and there. what a luck !!!

Craig, beautiful workmanship on those Pistons. Tell me - from what I seem to recall, you did have some issues with that engine in your 300. Did you manage to address the problem ? BTW, I suspect that the car Igor in France is working on, is more than likely the M130 six cylinder 280 engine, rather than the "old" original M189 unit. Regards. Styria

Waiting on RonB to have space in his workshop to pull it down. The noise is in the valve train. Bottom end is as solid as a rock.

The interior part seems ok, let's check that.
carpets and seats should be cleaned up carefully in the next days, will see how it goes.

That job took a big 60hrs time... and no dragging around at all if you see what i mean, but all came out in rule of Art, without breakages (very very lucky on that one)

As the car needs to move to a other storage place (in door) a custom made emergency suspension ply wood buffers for the rear side are being made we should try that tomorrow.

Cales (plural) normally means chocks (for stopping brakeless cars from moving), however in this instance I believe Philippe means the wooden 'blocks' that Igor had made for the suspension.

I am a bit late for the answer, sorry about that.
yeah this pistons sets are really impressive and looks Top.
As Styria says the engine that feet that w109 016 mid 1969 year is the M130 2.8l, the same one that feet the 280SL "PAGODE" if i am not wrong.
Where did you order these custom made pieces of Art ?

Actually, i order those wooden blocks (cales) from our mate Jérôme that is good at doing that sort of emergency engineering solutions.
He is our genius out here.

after a first test set we realized the need to make a bevel for proper seating, Jérôme recut the outside bottom corner at 45° to avoid the weld bead
the result is now acceptable to move securely this heavy baby.
