I now have a set ready to go on my 560. I just have to get wheel bolts. Why does that not sound right? But wheel nuts isn’t technically correct!

Because the expression is American and as you well know American cars have studs on which the wheels sit and you have nuts that you put on and tighten.
Hence the expression wheel nuts!
