Not quite so simple as it is made out to be.
At times the idle speed changed both cold and hot. Not a lot, but it should not be so.

The Air flap opened and closed ok .. but the was a build up of krud around it, and looking down inside at the Butterfly , it had a build up of carbon like krud around the edge. Circuit Board cleaner, cleaned it all up ( I didn't have anything else ) Now a nice steady idle cold at 1000 RPM. So hot should be ok at around 750 RPM
(providing the Auxiliary Air Valve is doing it's job)

I'm not sure if you were asking a question or just making a comment, but the auxiliary air valve can be taken apart and also cleaned, or cleaned internally (ultrasonic) and adjusted by lightly tapping to move the top further into the housing. Over time, it will lift out of the housing body and as that occurs, the effectiveness is reduced.

PROBABLY a comment Craig, perhaps it will help others. Cleaning inside the Air Flap would have been the last thing I would have thought of.
I have cleaned and adjusted the Air Valve . Under the inlet manifold on the 110 6 cyls. cars. Not for the faint hearted .
Can only be seen from under the wheel arch, and removed /refitted by Braille !
