Distributer for early 280SE d-jetronic version

Hello again from Jimb.
I am interested in purchasing a distributer for the 6 cylinder 280SE W116.
Not only could it be good to have a spare. I want to see if it is possible to fit some type of Hall effect devices to replace the trigger points. so even one that has some issues would be of interest. I don't suppose there is a great deal of room in there under the fly weights to fit much . At least it would give me a better idea of how it works all works without pulling mine to bits.
Also how can I obtain a circuit diagram (schematic ) of the ECU.

Hi Jim,
Pertronix make a kit to do just that, it all fits in place of the points and you can use the original coil. There is no external unit like the crane system.
I fitted one to my 6.3 in 2006 and haven't touched it since.

I see know you mention the trigger points for the D-Jet, the system in my 6.3 doesn't need that but it cannot hurt to ask.

Thank you for your reply. I have sent them an email. I doubt if there would be sufficent calling for them to manufacture them. But like you said no harm in making an enquiry.
I originally tbought about photo electric device because of the restrictions,however there would always be some oil contamination rendering it unreliable.

The other thing I would add, is while I have not personally owned a D-Jet car, i've had a few friends tell me that issues with Trigger points are often resolved by a good cleaning.

At the moment all is well. I guess I want to future proof the system with a few parts that I can change over. Also investigate how it goes together before getting stuck on the side of the road..
