I have joined the 107 club !

Latest purchase. It is a 1975 450 SL C. Approx. 220,000 km. Service history. Needs some tidy up inside (carpet, seat bolster, etc) but it is rust free ! Yes, I know that is a big statement for a C107, but I have pulled most of it apart and the critical areas for 107's, such as the inside the fan on the firewall, under the back seat, behind the rear windscreen, rockers, jacking points are all OK and look as though they have never been repaired. I have also run a magnet over the car and have not yet found any suspect areas, but that is not to say there aren't any. It has had a respray at some point - maybe 5 or 10 years ago. On the down side, it is a D-Jet, but runs well.

I will do a compression test today and also check for chain stretch. Needs some cosmetic things such as the wheels to be painted, and the rear bumper replaced by one without a ding in it, but these are all manageable things. Also need an original radio.

It is registered until the end of the year.

That's the one. Martin still has it on eBay for some reason, but he might have gone away for Easter and forgotten about it after I picked it up on Thursday.

Took it down to John at MB Classic Star today and put it up on the hoist for his trained eye to pick it to pieces (he is not a fan of the 107). Other than forthcomg front pads, an after market fuel pump and rear diff mount needing replacement, he was pretty happy with it. For $5,000, I think it is a pretty good buy. It is pretty hard to find 107's with no obvious (and not so obvious) rust, so it must have been pretty well cared for all its life.

Storage problems Michel ? Tell me about it. I have 10 cars in the backyard and 3 more in Brisbane..
