Hi Michel, those are interesting figures, I was surprised at the relatively small difference between cast iron and alloy V8's. By the look of things, my "here's looking at you kid" estimates appear to be somewhat exaggerated.
Interesting reference to the flat V12. I wonder if that engine was fitted to the E-Classes that were raced in the German Touring Car championships ? I also see a reference to three valved engines - in the very early '90's (I think), Mercedes in one of their brochures made geat play of the fact that there was no need for 4-valve heads as they lacked torque and 3's were perfectly adequate. Today's engineering seems to indicate otherwise. So, what would a 6.9 weigh - all up, it would have to be close to 330 kgs. with all ancillaries fitted. Regards, Styria
