When I puchased my 6.9 four years ago I was less than impressed by it's handling and an initial job was to replace a pair of stuffed rear strut ball joints.
These were replaced using Styria's exchange ball joints and they have held up quite well
At the time I replaced these I was more than surprised to find a near 1 cm gap between the bottom of the rear mounts when viewed behind the back seat.
There was clear air visible betwen the bottom of the mounts in the cabin on both sides.
At the time I packed out the gaps with old shock absorber mounts but yesterday I fitted two new rear mounts supplied by Tom Hansen
Here are all four mounts as they arrived last week.

Here is the reason why the right rear mount was noisy - on the left is the new mount sitting upside down and the three pieces are the remains of the old mount.

In fact the pieces had to be levered out using the access holes provided behind the rear seat and usually covered with plastic grommets.

On the left side the mount was complete but was 10mm compressed

and as well the mounting plate had migrated further northwards internally as can be seen in this picture

Still working on the fronts as I am attempting to re-build my right front strut and it is being a bit "repair-resistant" at the present.
I might be contacting The Godfather for help if "repair-despair" strikes too deep.
