And to make everyone clear about it, this is the official press release:
Freightliner Trucks Teams With Brad Jones Racing
Melbourne, Australia; Coinciding with its 25th anniversary in Australia, Freightliner, a division of the global Daimler Truck and Bus group, has announced its venture into V8 Supercars with the unveiling of the Freightliner Trucks/Brad Jones Racing Commodore for the 2015 season.
At an exclusive unveiling at the company’s Melbourne headquarters and attended by Daimler Truck & Bus executives, motorsport, news, transport media, special guests including V8 Supercars CEO, James Warburton and the staff of Daimler Truck & Bus the Freightliner Trucks/Brad Jones Racing entry was revealed for the first time and in doing so ended weeks of speculation as to which Daimler Truck & Bus brand would adorn the body work of car number 14.
The Commodore entry will be driven by renowned and highly respected driver, Fabian Coulthard, who joined Brad Jones Racing in 2012.
In the past two years Fabian has enjoyed a high level of success with a number of pole positions, podium finishes and victories - none more so than in 2014.
At this year’s iconic Bathurst 1000 Coulthard finished in 9th position, just 56 seconds behind the winner.
For Freightliner Trucks, the decision to enter the V8 Supercar arena was motivated by the huge audience the category enjoys, both on television and at race circuits around Australia.
“There are strong parallels between the V8 Supercar audience and Freightliner Trucks,” said Daniel Whitehead, the managing director of Daimler Truck & Bus in Australia.
“Freightliner Trucks are as traditional as the much loved Aussie V8 sedan; big and powerful that cover huge distances with ease,” he said.
“To be aligned with a team as professional as Brad Jones Racing, which has also surpassed a 25 year milestone in motor racing, couldn’t come at a better time for our brand.
“With the V8 Supercar series moving to Foxtel in 2015 as well as selected races on free-to-air television our partnership with Brad Jones Racing will firmly etch the name ‘Freightliner’ into the minds of the huge television audience, both nationally and globally, and the tens of thousands of enthusiasts who attend the 15 rounds of V8 Supercar races around Australia each year,” Mr Whitehead said.
“There will no mistaking the Freightliner Trucks entry, said Mr Whitehead.
“BJR have done an exceptional job with the livery of car number 14 – it looks fast even when it’s standing still,” he said.
Rodney West, senior manager, Freightliner Trucks said the involvement with Brad Jones Racing will greatly reinforce Freightliner Trucks presence in Australia.
“To have the opportunity to raise awareness of the Freightliner brand in the market place is crucial in this highly competitive world,” Mr West said.
The Freightliner Trucks/Brad Jones racing will make its public debut at the V8 Super Test in Sydney on February 7th/8th and its competition debut at the 2015 Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, February 26-March 1st.
