Hi Mark - I have my doubts regarding spare parts pricing. But talking about that, I wonder if your 'every day of the mill models' such as a 'C' Class would attract cheaper spares than the prices we pay for 116 spares ? Or 109 spares for that matter ? As you know, we have talked a fair bit about this previously, and we have never really come up with a satisfactory answer.
No doubt the new A - Class should be an excellent car. The picture as shown makes it appear to be a fair bit larger than what it is in real life - at least, that's what I think. Comparing it with a Commodore is like comparing apples with pears - no comparison. I don't think we should belittle the Commodore - I really do think that they have produced good cars for a number of years now.
Lest I be accused of bias, please let me assure you that even a Statesman as old as 2000 is a beautifully put together car, with a great deal of attention that's been applied to interior furnishings. I think it compares very favourably with Mercedes products of that era. JohnS who, sadly, is no longer with us, owned a supercharged Calais before he bought a C-Class with the 2.4 litre engine. He had nothing but praise for the Calais, but liked the Benz as well - in a different sort of way. Regards Styria
