hardtop SL W107

Hi all,
I don't know how to remove the side twist style locking pins on either side of the hardtop. They secure the hardtop to the body. I need to remove the RHS one to free the trim to get to the defrost wiring. If any body can help I would be most grateful.

Hi Terqel, sorry I can't advise you specifically as we have not done a lot of work that you refer to. However, you may wish to investigate thoroughly the information provided by JohnS last September or October regarding this particular 107 site. It is excellent.

First of all, the hard top is probably stiff and stuck (if it hasn't been removed for a while).
In that case, I can assure you that you won't get it off all by yourself, you'll need two people (at least).

Have you released all latches? Including the safety one (in the middle)?
Are all levers in the right release position?

Is the safety release pulling back far enough?

You might need a bit of help by having two people lift and gently rock the top while you work the screw driver on the safety catch.

Hello Styria and Michel and thanks for your interest. Michel I am able to take the Hardtop off and on with no problems fits well and looks good sorry to mislead you. I want to remove the screw pins from the body of the Hardtop so I can in turn remove the trim to access the rear window defrost wiring. I think there must be a clip under the internal chrome head.
