I am about to replace the drivers side Door Strap with a new one. I think I have it covered but would appreciate any tips.

Hi Terqel, the 107s have a very solid door strap, totally different and, dare I say, much stronger than the ones on the 116s. I have never replaced one on a Ch. 107 car, and I would appreciate a short run-down from you when you carry out the work. Door straps for the 116s are hellishly expensive, and I wonder if the same applies to your car. Regards Styria

To Styria and anybody who is interested: I removed the door trim, removed the pin connecting the strap to the body and replaced it with a smaller temporary one. Closed the door as much as possible to retract the strap and removed the temporary pin, opened the door and removed the countersunk screw behind the strap under the rubber door seal.
Removed a second screw which is recessed about strap high on inner door panel. The strap assembly was now free to remove carefully from the door under the window electric connectors. I replaced the new one in the reverse order. I hope this makes sense.

It sure does. Thanks for that info. I have had quite a good look at this part - it is certainly beautifully made, and it appears to be strong enough to control the open door movement of these quite heavy doors. Just as a matter of interest, can I ask about the cost of the part ? I ask because the straps for the 116 cars are very expensive - well in excess of $200.00 in good old Oz country. it was a bit pricey but the brass rollers on the old one were oval, skidding and destroying the strap. It has made the door action very smooth well worth the effort. I will pull the passenger side out clean it and oil it carefully and replace it next w/e. Important if the assembly must be oiled make sure it is on the shafts only and keep the roller face dry. $220+$40 USD express. Cost me about $230 AUD all up.
