Chasing Mercedes workshop stands

Gents!

I saw on a website for an Eastern European Benz workshop a 107 suspended fully on tripod stands which used the jacking tubes to attach to the car.

Brilliant idea and it looked very stable so I want a set!

problem is I cant remember where I saw them and id love some good pics of one to duplicate a set of 4 so Pop under my Brown SE so I can get cracking on the bodywork!

Can anyone help?

And Does anyone know if it is a factory item or just an ingenious fab job?

Probably a good idea when the car was new but I would not trust my life to the idea given the age of the car and the propensity for rust around the jacking points.

I would be happier with support under the rear subframe and front chassis outriggers to lessen the chance of a life insurance payout to my wife.

Good point and I would use wind up axle stands with it as a matter of course but external stands would lend more stability when combined with external units with a broader footprint.

Id rather use a hoist but there are times when a hoist has bits that get in the way too.

Last time I did this I dropped the driveline and engine out and fabbed up a chassis dolly on castors, a sort of shopping trolley from hell with a car body sitting ontop.

Might have to go back to that I guess.

Here's what I found:

This thread has a MB part number of 123 589 11 63 00. When that's entered into the ECS parts system, it's described as a "Supporting P" and is listed as $237.16US!! I'm tipping it'd be better to make your own from hardened steel....

Nope and nope but theres some good ideas there!

This item looks like a tower, same construction as the HT Towers electric companies use but 3 feet high with a shaft that sits in the jack point and a flat steel tongue that sits on the hoist pad UNDER the jack point.

So the idea is to jack the car up in the center and then to slide these broad base stands into the jack points like attached axle stands and then do the same at the front of the car.

So the car is fully supported by these outrigger style stands and very very stable.
