450SEL suspension and injector parts

Hi it has been a while since I last posted . Now driving a 1975 450SEL
Looking to sort out my creaking rattling suspension
Here is the list of parts that my mechanic gave me today
Front Bottom Control Arm Bushes
Rear Stabilizer Arm (bushes)
Rear Both Control Arm Bushes L + R
Front Top Control Arm Bushes

I also need to look at getting a new set of ignition leads

Plus probably 4 Or more Fuel injectors

To get the 40 year old 360,000k beast running a bit smoother
Any suggestions on where I can get these parts at a decent price would be appreciated

What no Aussie suppliers? Their 6.9 oil filters don't appear to be correct....

Too expensive locally. Yes, you do need to know what some of the parts should be, but also some generic photos are used. I have never had a problem with any parts I have bought from them - Mercedes or otherwise.

MB Spares quoted $98ea a few days ago!!!! Imparts and HSY don't even carry them anymore...

I haven't, but I had a look and they are not listed. Where is this supplier - US, Australia ? USD or AUD ? There is no contact number for them, so I do not use anyone that is unable to be contacted by phone.

Well, I am none the wiser as to whether they are located in Australia or the US, and if the currency is AUD or USD, but after plowing through their terms and conditions, I would guess they are located in California.

Bits for Benz is here in Sydney. Their prices are better than any of the other suppliers I have used. Contact with them, a one man Band, can be a bit of a pain at times but worth the effort. Also prices on the same items from different suppliers can vary quite a bit. Silver Star are good when supplying the Trade. Retail quotes can sometimes make your eyes Water !

Let me put in my bit. I can vouch for Shane Herbert (Fotografa) in relation to some transactions that I am having. I do have his phone number, but I know he prefers to deal on an email basis.

Just also a quick word about another organization. I am speaking of the much vaunted MB Spares in Canberra. I rang some two months ago to enquire about some spares and prices - well, I had heard so much as to how well priced their spares are. I am not sure if there are personal issues involved, but the prices that I was quoted were absolutely outrageous. Worst I have ever come across anywhere.

6.9 Spares are becoming a little difficult, and more often than not, one is supplied with 450 items that can be shared. For instance, tie rods or tie rod ends. 6.9 units are much thicker, much stronger, but it would appear that they are no longer available. Similar to the upper links. 6.9 units are made of steel, whilst other models make do with alloy units. Similarly, Air Cells. 6.9 units exclusive, but no longer available. These are some of the reasons why I recondition/rebuild my own units. Regards Styria

Air cells for the front are available for the 6.9 from both suppliers Styria I just paid $225 each for my front cells.

I had another look at Bitz4Benz and their prices are reasonable, but there are some glaring omissions, such as no diff mounts for the 116, 123, and 107. They all use the same mount. I would have thought this was a normal consumable part.

Craig, it is a common part, but I think Shane works on the basis of "demand and supply". It would appear that he has some excellent contacts selling parts at reasonable prices, and invariably he is prepared to offer that saving to his customers. He is very reasonable to deal with.

Geoff, I realize that one can still purchase the Air Cells for the 6.9. However, you'd find that they are generic parts, usually made by Febi now, and they are also fitted to the 126 range with hydraulic suspension. As you would know, there is a great deal of difference in weight between that car and the 6.9, therefore at best the units available nowadays constitute a compromise to keep the cars mobile. As our Doctor Bill posted in days gone by, he even weighed the various units and confirmed that the 6.9 units were more robust and heavier. I recall fitting new units when I first purchased Gleaming Beauty, and those units lasted for ten years at least. Regards. Styria

Yes Styria is correct about The Canberra People . For example, last year 6 K Jetronic Injectors from Fry's ,here in Sydney, were considerably cheaper. Not forgetting the freight costs from Canberra. Benz Bits did not have them and I guess he sticks to the faster moving parts and those he can on sell at reasonable Prices
