Neat car, that colour is Tobacco I think and its the colour of the Int on my 450SE.

From the pictures, this looks a cracking good car, with what I consider to be a nice interior. I'd hope that it should sell for no less than $5K. There is a lot of good car there.

Tobacco is one of my favourite interior colours - but then I adore Milan Brown - in fact, I think I will wear only brown today;
Doncaster used to be at the end of the Freeway when I lived in Toorak but maybe these days it's moved closer to town? It's a middle-class, newish and reasonably wealthy suburb about 20 minutes drive from the Melbourne CBD.

Doen't matter Styria - it's a gorgeous brown regardless of its actual name. Actually, I think Tobacco has more red in it?

Hi BenzBoy, Tobacco Brown is a really nice colour - and I can tell you where you have previously seen it. Remember the Milan Brown 6.9 sold by Shannons for $9K. and that you had a look at - well, that was Milan Brown, and the work was carried out by Parks, and others. The leather came from GAHH. N.B. Sorry, I need to take all that back - the car originally had Tobacco Brown velour and it was a horribly dark and drab colour. Now I will have to get two colour names for you. Did you like the colour, BTW, in that Milan Brown car ? You know, when I think about it, somebody got a real bargain with that car. It even had been fitted with 15" Bundts that alone, with tyres, were worth $2K.

Agreed. Must be all those 6.9 owners saying "my car has more litres than yours has cylinders".

Notice also the centre console has faded more than the other dark brown trim - different material, and the same thing happens in blue ones at least.

Seems to be a lot of (rarer) 280SELs in Oz - must have been the "I've made it, but only just" combination of the day. This would be a great car to get as a daily for me, if only I needed one. Does look to be in good nick, and would be a nice drive back to Canberra.

Excellent value at the current price of $1k7.

Well, what a bargain - just how sad is it that a Mercedes, in this condition, should only have fetched the sort of money it did. How very disappointing. Just to take this a bit further. The example: 450SLC, cracked dash, owner wants to get it fixed. If you go to a well known Sydney Trimming Company, a re-skinned dash works out to about $850.00 (truly !) and then add about $650.00 for remove and replace. A total of $1700.00 - almost as much as this 280SEL's selling price ! It's not making sense. Regards Styria
