I originally bought some parts from it after a tip-off. During my panic stripping, I quickly assessed the rest of the car and decided it was so good that the whole thing was an essential purchase! I initally got the seatbelts and fuel divider (along with various smaller bits), but with the rest of the car I now have 4 near perfect doors, bonnet and an entire sunroof! The sills and rear quarters have potential as donor panels. Plus of course engine, trans, suspension and brakes. A damn shame such a fine example ended up this way, but quite a few 6.9s will benefit...

Nothing like having a few spares, especially when you have THAT amount of Benzes on your fleet.

Well done Mark ;)

You have done very well, Mark. It's always sort of exciting when you start dismantling and you see all the 'goodies' that, perhaps, you have at your disposal on the day when you need the parts. Plus, you also learn a lot about restoring and working on the cars, and in next to no time you can identify each part, and where it has come from and where it can be used.

It'll be ideal to get you started on a couple of 6.9 projects - you've got the basics, in fact better than that, and getting started will be just about the only challenge you'll have to overcome. Regards Styria

N.B. The colder/cpld weather is coming on........it's warm and cosy inside !

Gentlemen you are looking at THE VERY LAST W116 450!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wiki:

W116.032

1973–1980

450 SE sedan

4.5 L M117 V8

41,604

W116.033

1973–1980

450 SEL sedan

4.5 L M117 V8

59,578

According to my info 450SE and SEL shared sequence numbers. So if you add the two production figures together you get 101182.

OMG WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell are the chances of that???:cool::D:D:)

And my dilemma continues...... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::confused::confused::(:(

Oh my bad! She's 60 cars short..... Damn that was close! Back to using her for parts again!!

But it does bring up an interesting point; how much would the last be worth??

According to my crap math they made an average of 40 450SE/Ls per day, so my Green Lantern was made 2-3 days before production stopped; noice! :D

........after some careful considerations and calculating on what the cars are selling for in Germany, I would say more than the next to last - IMO :D:D Regards Styria

.....and why do you call her Green Lantern - just as a matter of interest - or is it a HE ?

Most cars I refer to as her, but it makes sense that this one is a him!

'Green Lantern' because he's green, we went to Movieworld over Christmas and I took the new ride, watched the movie not so long ago, plus he's a 'lantern' which is a metaphor of the ray of hope for better parts on my other cars.... Deep! :)

Whilst I don't quite get the gist of Tarek's post, I do somehow think it's a classic. Regards Styria :D
