There's a couple of youtube clips of a manual 350slc racing. I'd love to have one for that purpose but the coupes are usually too good and pricey compared to crappy w116's with potential.

Admittedly a sports car with a V8 and manual makes much more sense than a daily-driven sedan with the same setup.... just a bugger to find said combination in a sedan...

107 fans would not forgive me for wrecking out a SL or SLC to keep a SE on the road... to them its probably the other way around, the SE and SELs should be parted to keep 107s on the road...

we all have our preferences..
some like SL and SLC and some like the SE and SEL...

It is interesting how different people think about gearboxes, the way I see it is the car should be smart enough to know what gear it is supposed to be in and do the changing for you. Love autos just don't see the point in changing the gears myself.

It would be like sticking a choke knob on the dash, should I have to tell the car how much fuel it needs to keep itself running while it is cold? No Mercedes are smart enough to have these cold start "thingies" that do the job for you. Looking around under the bonnet of my CE I notice someone has disconnected it, well anyway that's another story....

Is your TT a simple auto or does it have a DSG?

VW were among the first manufacturers to use a fuzzy logic in automatics.
And now, auto transmisions do think a fair bit on how to react to the driver's attitude and way of driving...

S Tronic, which I beleive is the same as DSG, you can drive it like a manual, but it has 2 clutches, so its a smart manual, but you can also drive it full auto mode or a sporty automatic mode.
