Hi Des, I honestly can't believe what I am seeing - it seems that you're in an absolute hurry. Have you already committed yourself to another car ?

As a matter of interest, have you had any prospective buyer for your fine looking 250 ? Regards Styria

Dear Styria
Have not had a chance to go and look yet, it is a 170 cab chassis model which apparently some were shipped out here to Tasmania after the war and a local coach builder / shop added a ute tray to the back, something different.
Sounds like it needs a bit of work though, going to have a look maybe later in the week so will have some details and pictures then.

Hi guys, the sale of Des' 250 proves that there is always a buyer as long as the price is reasonable/competitive or downright cheap. Unfortunately, I baulk at selling stuff at too low a price. I love bargaining, but if an article is, in my view, reasonably priced, I would not insult a seller by haggling down just for the sake of doing so...also, I am not impressed with guys pulling out the folding stuff just to emphasize their bargaining power - I always turn the other way. Regards Styria

Styria,
I agree with you.
We all have a bit of fat in whatever we sell and I too am prepared to listen to any reasonnable offer on any of my vehicles.

However, Des had his reasons and no one put a gun to his head.
He purposefully lowered his price to the point of making the car a bargain for anyone.

Des,
Is that you in the mighty Volvo ?;)

Hi Des, you sold that car very quickly - was it one of the 'topklasse' members that bought it, or someone from another forum ? Is it still in Tassie ?

I am also curious, and without wishing to be personal, as to why you sold it to make room for a 170 (?) and instead you've bought the 280CE Coupe. Is the 170 still on the cards / Parks is "grappling" with his 170 job at the moment. Hopefully, we'll have some pictures soon.

When you're dealing with these old cars, you must be a trimmer foremost, a carpenter and a Panel Beater as well. Nothing is straight forward or mirror-imaged to the opposite side. Regards Styria

Dear Styria

Yes sold my 250 to a chap in the north of tassie, he has removed the rear windscreen to fix the apparently considerable amount of rust that was behind there. To me it didn't look so bad from the outside, apparently it had even been repaired before and there was a hole "in there" somewhere the size of a 10 cent piece. He even found some South African coins down there.

While there was no deception on my part, he spent a good hour looking over the car and went for a 20 odd k test drive, I do feel a bit bad about the amount of rust that has surfaced. Car was from South Africa,

I am still after a 170, I had a look at a cab chassis version but not really what I am after, while it would be something different, I do want a sedan, in black or a dark colour. So the hunt continues there.

Unfortunately I have had to sell my TT due to my changing professional career, focusing on my writing and publishing my book(s) and as my father is not very well these days, I need to spend more time with him.

So that takes me back to my fleet of cars, I have a 230 I used to use daily, which is about stuffed, I am going to use the 280CE as a daily car once I get it repaired and on the road. Still have a few Volvo''s, GOLF, so plenty to keep me occupied.

Ideally I would like to find a 170 that needs restoration.

You sold the TT? fair enuff. What Volvo's have you got?

1987 240GL and 1993 850 GLE sedan

Used to have a 740GLE, that thing was fun to drive, was the turbo model.

While Volvo's aren't really a "cool" car they are nice to drive, feel very safe and the sort of thing you would want your partner and family to be safe in.
