I have given this much thought and consideration, I have decided to sell my W123 250 sedan,

Have spent a lot of money on it and it rarely if ever gets used, last 6 months has only been driven to get things fixed and to keep it all working ok.

Bought the 250 about 10 months ago for $5,300, had 144,600k's on the clock, has only traveled about 300k's more in that time.

I bought the car from the original family who owned it, the grandson was selling it as his grandfather had owned the car since new in South Africa, brought it to Australia in 1988 and then driven it until he died a few years ago.
Family has kept it since but not driven it. When I bought it, it had been sitting for a few years, so needed a complete service, all oils changed, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, all hoses, air con hoses, subframe mounts, ball joints, all belts, valves adjusted, timing chain adjusted etc.. etc.. new BEHR radiator fitted two weeks ago with thermostat at a cost of $900

all up car owes me about $13k in parts and work.
All parts have been genuine MB parts.
all receipts to go with car.
comes with many spare parts that I have not fitted yet, for lack of time, again all genuine MB parts:

rear windscreen seal
rear chrome surround for windscreen with clips and fasterners.
all chrome strips that run along the panels below the door handles, all clips for these also
brand new still in packages, front and rear tail light and indicator lenses, with gaskets
all bumper rubber strips
carby rebuild kit
coil cap cover
distributor cap cover

That's about two thousand dollars in parts still to be fitted to go with the car,

for a car that only has 144k's on the clock you would expect it to drive like a new car, well it sure does, steering is firm and tight, interior is very good condition, notice no cracks in the dash, all the writing and marks on the switches are clear and unfaded.
body needs a little bit of rust fixing behind the back window and around the bonnet hinges, bodywork and paint is really good, just needs a little touching up in these areas, a complete respray would be an over kill as the rest of the car is really good, the paint shines really well. stand back and you admire how well the car and interior really looks.

It really is a nice car that is in above average condition I feel, would be great ether for an everyday driver or that special car on the weekends

as I said I've spent around $13-14k all up on it, all documented.

selling due to interest in another car and I don't have the room to keep it or I would, as I have spent a lot on it and I know I woun't see that back on it.

$6500

if you have any questions, comments or would like further pictures of details please drop me an email

Flying over and driving it home to the mainland isn't as expensive as you would think, if you would like to talk more about the car please drop me an email.

Kind Regards
Des

What a nice clear specimen....

Very impressive Des!

But tell us, what have you found to replace it?
Or is that a big secret?

Operation 170, the obtainment of a Mercedes Benz 170,

might even look into importing a pre war car and restore it,

$4,000 ONO

At this rate the metal dealer will get the car for the $100 scrap value of the car.

How low can you go ?

not myself,

but I can write the cheque and let someone else get the dirty fingernails.

Geez Des......

Doing up a 170 will require a bloody large cheque

Well Des, you seem to make a habit of losing big time on your purchases and sales - and this is not meant to be a derogatory mark in any manner. Honestly, the mind boggles when one looks at this lovely specimen of a 250, and when one considers all the spares that go with it, it is an absolute bargain.

Now, I see that you're still after that 170 - no further comments on my part. I know you well enough that once you decide, you stick with it. The question I have is this - any interest on your part in a 1968/1969 MGC GT Coupe ? I am sure you know that they are extremely rare. I have been associated with this car for about fourteen years and I firmly believe that it has travelled a mere 27K. miles and its asking price would be many thousands below what you find them for on the net. There are very few for sale - probably about two or three Australia wide at the moment and they are an absolute collector's item. It is very close to being put on ebay but I would prefer to sell prior to that. I'll leave it in your hands - that's if you're interested. Regards Styria - and good luck with the sale of your 250 - someone would get a very, very nice motor car.

Dear Styria

yes it is a really nice car, fix the little spot of rust behind the back window, fit the new lenses supplied, chrome strips etc.. and it would be a very nice daily driver or weekend car.

I am going to go for a 170, as nice as MG's are, I have my heart set on a 170

the two that John Green has at the moment appear to be the best examples around at the moment, so just need to move this car so I have some garage space.

I didn't take offense to your comments,
