Well this certainly isn’t a cheap exercise!! Including injectors,manifold, extractors, exhaust, ECU, pulse wheel, coil packs, O2 sensor and airbox, there won’t be much change from $10-$15K!! And that’s NA not SC or turbo....

I must be mad but hopefully I’ll get the investment back in the years that follow! :eek::eek::rolleyes:

Interesting that I just noticed the RHS cylinder head coolant passage is blocked by the inlet manifold at the rear. On the LR the head passage goes into the heater core but on the RHS the heater is connected to a pipe leading to the top of the block. Could this mean that the cylinder head could get too hot on the RR in the vicinity of #4??? Is there a history of blowing head gaskets in this area?

Interesting that I can’t find a pulse wheel unless I go full serpentine drive. Or get my own made.... A flywheel pulse generator would be more accurate but cost more and be more of a PITA since the trans must be removed.

Dkubus can’t supply a sensor (just a trigger wheel), so the winner goes to.... Elbe. Bonus is I can use the 6 rib belt system, just not with the self tensioner. PS, SLS & AC will still be operative via v belt. They may even be able to supply the pulleys in different colours! I just hope it’s not gunna cost 2 kidneys! ;):rolleyes::D:cool::eek:

Just found someone local who can supply the ECU & tune the EFI. He’s even familiar with the early Benz engines!! Gotta get lucky sometimes...

Hopefully this should bring down the costs for me & subsequent conversions.

I may convert to EFI first then fit the new manifold. That will also give a good comparison of the new manifolds capabilities...

Attached picture is from a W124 300CE V8 conversion & I believe the engine was sold to an enthusiast in WA. Mine should be similar if not even better!

I now have sources for EFI & ECU equipment. The only think left is the coils & where to mount them. Hopefully the engine will be more economical with more power through more accurate fuel delivery & greater control on advance over a wider range. From there it’s onto the manifold, which will hopefully unleash much bigger hp/torque gains across the whole rev range (not just peak revs) with flatter curves on the dyno charts.
