Well I’ve already upgraded Dora’s exhaust (560SEL) since it needed to be replaced anyway. It’s a 2 x 2 1/4” system using 2 x hot dogs and a stainless HOLDEN VE SS rear muffler and no CATs (Euro engine).
The fitter had issues at the rear since I wanted to use later model stainless tips that were rather long and it didn’t leave much space for the muffler. As a result it’s a little cramped, but it does work well and sounds great. I was thinking of future options and upgrades on other cars being another 560SEL Euro and of course the 6.9s. On a 6.9 I’d probably look at a 2 x 2 1/2” system. Although a single system can perform well and sound good, I think a 3” system would be too low to the ground for a W116 or W126 V8.
