W126 in KFC Double add

I have seen the KFC ad on telly.

The W126 featured in the ad has the original Becker CD player.

Judging by the engine sound in the ad the car has the V8 engine.

The W126 is the sedan model but which one could it be the 420, 500 or 560?

500 never sold in Australia and predates the CD player. As we talked about before it was so expensive an option almost all were fitted to the 560. So my guess is it will be a 560.

You would be spot on Motec it would be the 560SEL model.

The Actor featured in the ad is from Newcastle NSW I think?

I have seen the Actor's face in the All Saints TV show before and also ads for a Newcastle banking company.

I could be wrong but a 420 buyer was unlikely to pay the price on CD player back then as it put the 420 close to 560 purchase price if that option was ticked. As I said it was the cost of a small car like a Yaris when new to get CD player.

like in the studio that filmed the advertisement.

Best to my knowledge, this is a cassette radio that has been photoshop'd with red "track 2"

(1432 3pcs units had LCD and pure CD looked as an upside-down radio of the era)

Didn't look that close at add I must admit. But I have only seen a few W126 with Becker CD player and all but one was a 560. Other was a 420SE.

Absolutely trivial.
I just hapend to collect these radios and have been a bit more exposed to variations

Best to my knowledge, Becker never made luminous displays let alone in red.

The car it was filmed in belonged to one of our members, MatrinL, it was a black 560SEL, now sold

I have a 420 with some VERY expensive options so it's rare but not impossible

Well, we freed the suspension so the wheels could drop down, then chocked it up with timber, replaced the drivers side upper and lower wishbones (Damaged by CEVA), removed the fuel tank, flushed all the fuel lines and got it to run, albeit on three cylinders only, now it is waiting to move into its workshop bay to be stripped for restoration

looking forward to it. I was very tempted on the 6.3 . But I would be a long time before work could commence on it.
