I don't like these chromed, but they look good polished. Does this effect last long term or do they need regular polishing?

They look OK to me but
it would be essential that they are PROPERLY prepared and finished with a good quality protective clear lacquer, to keep them that way.

Among my favorites were the matched to the body colour, painted steel wheel covers, that were original equipment on new W116's.
Very elegant, and they just screamed 'Mercedes' !

I'd imagine that they would require regular care and polishing to keep them looking like that. Two pack clear would be the way to go to keep them in this shiny condition without constantly breaking your back. Regards Styria

No not mine & they may have been machine skimmed (diamond cut) instead of polished. Not sure at this point.
