I have a book on Merc customisation and that was quite a common conversion when the 126 first arrived.

Must have taken a lot of effort.

but open the door and you can see what it really is

That's what I thought as well, didn't get any info on that one though.

The first one had the chrome mirrors..... but the second doesn't and the dash looks 126

If it is not a 126 they must have changed all the side crease lines to the single 126 one.

The first cream car has the twin side crease lines for the 116 but this one only has a single.

Has anyone ever seen a Brabus(?) conversion on the W140 chassis? Well, they graft on the front from a W220...to me, it looks like an early 90's Honda Civic!

I've seem other W116 to W126 conversions..I prefer the original W116! I think we all do

Personally...I like the cream one...the black one is an update 126 (smooth lower panels) with early US 126 headlights, and a nice combination of "lets paint it all black for the sinister look" black on black.

BUT. I say if you want a 116, get a 116. If you want a 126, get a 126. If you want one of each...get one of each, makes for a more exciting week.

That first cream one definately is (was?) a W116. It has Burl - made me wonder if its a 6.9. Just can't see the position where the suspension lever would be. Who's got eyes good enough to see if its a 240km/h or a 260km/h speedo?
