The new addition a W204 C Class 75ks is now performing as designed . New Air Filter.
Research tells me that the Cam gears and Timing Chain will need an expensive replacement after 100,000Ks + The Cam Sprockets are Cast Iron an inferior material for the Job. Replacement Gears from Mercedes are now Steel as they should have been. Various knowledgeable Sites tell me that good quality Synthetic Oils are essential to extend their life cycle.. death rattles are the only indication, coupled with the Engine warning light flagging late ignition Timing.
At about 8,000 Ks per year on both Cars,a Pine Box may beat the necessity !!

Buy a Toyota !

I had a 1998 Camry VX20 V6 5 speed manual Touring (quite a rare car). for 6 years. I fully serviced it before giving it to my daughter. With scheduled servicing, it has never presented with a problem.
It now could do with a topside re paint, because there is no place for it to be garaged.

When she has finished with it, I am looking forward to getting it back.
