I guess that $500 or so would be the correct price for plates such as these.

When I first acquired my 6.9, I spent $180 with the N.S.W. RTA, to get the specialised plates for my car. (SEL.69L). That was back in 2000.

These days to get this sort of plate, a yearly subscription is required. I would not have bothered, if they had asked for a yearly subscription at the time.

I suppose that if I were to sell my car, the plates would go with it.

Funny that in every cloud there's a silver lining... I just got on the VicPlates website and bought TWO new sets that are way better than the ones I missed! I was amazed that they weren't taken already. Yay for me! :D:D

Yearly subscription? What the hell's that? Don't say it too loudly though, because if there's money to be made and VicRoads find out about it, you'll only have time to blink before it's introduced here....

It's a shame that the E-bay plates didn't stay with the car, but it appears the PO moved interstate and Victorian plates would be no good to them in NSW. Plus, they made some more money by selling them separately.

OMG what a rip!!! I thought ours were dear! In Victoria a custom plate will set you back around $500 as a once-only fee for the right's to display. These rights can be transferred if agreeable by the owner. They're usually transferred upon sale, at a price that's determined by the owner. Personalized plates are cheaper and others are far dearer (try $10K)!

I now have 4 sets of custom plates and 2 old issue ones. :)

Well those plates look damn fine on your car and they let everyone know what she's pack'n; so stand well clear!!! Funny that the plates I ordered are very similar; just a couple of letters different!:D

The great unwashed usually ask me if it is a '63 model, then go blank stares or oh ah when I tell them it is 6.3 litres, depending on the level of understanding. So which plates have you ordered???

ANY subscription would be too much for me to pay.

If the RTA changed their policy regards existing plate holders, and asked for a subscription from me, I would accuse them of trying to attack me, and tell them where they can stick their plates. I would surrender them.

I would be much crankier if they asked for re registration fees, on top of that,

The New South Wales
Roads and Traffic Authority
decades ago, under a different departmental name, was responsible for maintaining road design safety standards, and road construction; they don't do any of that now.
They are now no more than a money collecting agency.
