As much as I hate to admit it, Australians understand better than anyone else what it means to be a large person and need to drive a car.
Maybe because the average Australian is fat and over weight like Americans and enjoy driving cars that follow that similar American production principle.

You're right.
The 2001 Magna VR-X Ltd Edition that we use as our runabout has a HUGE space in the front.
If the driver's seat is all the way back, I can't reach the pedals..

Ask Mercules.... he's a big boy and drives/drove one at some stage

The only problem I have found driving a falcon as a work car is that when you enter a car park and park beside another large car there is no room to get out, the lines are so small, they try to pack as many cars into a car park as possible that there is only a few inches of room between your door and the car beside you, So you have to find a spot at the end of a wall where you can park the passenger side 1 inch off the wall and get out

can't really blame the car for that, just the idiots who design these stupid car parks.

Car park designers have a brief....
Use the minimum allowable space by law....:(

Hmmm.......... car park designers......never actually seen that one advertised in the classifieds.
Is that a good job?
A degree in civil engineering perhaps?
C'mon Michel, there's no such profession, like American Intelligence, car park designer are not words that go together.

Car park design would usually fall to either the architect (if they are bored) or else the draftsperson for a new carpark or other propject with one attached. These days a lot of the drafting software will know what the minimum requirements are, and once you tell it where the carpark should go, it just plonks all the spaces down for you. The software also works out how wide the lanes are, how much room you need to turn, etc. Sadly, it does not account for old people in Camrys.

So, you can blame a computer if you want, but essentially it's like Michel said - minimum space required.

Like Michel said, 'car park designer' is an oxymoron, ie a moron who wastes good oxygen, yeah, like American Intelligence.
And no computer can understand old people in Camrys.
How do Camrys even get through rego?
They all have indicators that don't work, and can't go faster than 55kph!
And don't get me started on the greenies in their Prius's!
(Holier than though, in a worthless marketing scam that makes them feel good?)

fairly normal person to me.

God sometimes I feel I need machine guns on the front of my bonnet

Why do you think I bought a W126? I told a friend of mine yesterday that this is the model that they use in movies as battering rams (one of the Die Hard movies springs to mind and K9)

If there was anything positive about the camry/prius thing, it makes you prouder to own a Volvo.

Camrys just annoy me, or rather the type of people who buy them do, Toyota would not make them if a million incompetent morons did not have driving licences,
But the Prius!!!
What is that all about?
Fooling dopey greenies into thinking they are saving the planet?
There is no such thing as free energy, but I bet if you got a Prius, stripped out all the electric generator motor and battery rubbish and tuned it correctly to run it as a regular petrol powered tin-box hatchback, it would use far less petrol overall.
Clarkson tested one on Top Gear a few years ago over a regular test route and although I can't remember the exact figures, he got 50% more again economy with a VW Polo Turbo-Diesel.
But no, the greenies know best!
And anyway, if Australians really cared about whales being slaughtered why does the majority buy Japanese cars?
Boycott them for a year, watch their export earnings drop, and you will have a lot more leverage than signing a petition.
Tell the greenies that!

Congratulations Des!
You're a champ.
I know taxi drivers are the same the world over, and I am always up for a fight, but that describes EXACTLY what I used to do for laughs many years ago in London.
And they always took the bait, up the inside, close the door, then slow down.
Brilliant game, I could play it all day.

Try the game described above, it probably works in any major city in the world, in fact let's make it international.......how many taxi drivers around the world can you get to swear at you in how many languages?
Chris
(ps; I did once find myself lying in the road in Oxford St London with a bloody nose, can't win ALL the time).

Well it is logic, can anyone out there give me ONE good reason for the existence of the Prius?
I could do with a laugh!
Columbia Electric made a "hybrid" in 1907.
It had a 'gasoline' motor, which was only used as a generator to charge the batteries which drove the four electric motors, one at each wheel.
Simple huh?
But it did not catch on, probably bad timing as much as anything, and then there was that Honda coupe in L.A.
There are still few there, but wasn't there a deal where the city was supposed to supply charging points for the cars?
And fed by electricity from a far-away power station (so they were not contributing to L.A's smog problem, make it someone else's problem), except that didn't really catch on.
You still see the Hondas around L.A. though, so someone is charging them.
Quite a cute design too, take note Prius, it was electric, 'green' AND a good design.
Rant over,
g'night.
Chris M.
