I quite like the green interior, my 280S is the same, but they didn't go far enough, in the Euro and American market you could get matching dash, seems we only get black or the odd silver or blue car with a blue dash

this one looks ok, especially for the money

Yeah...wouldn't expect it to be worth much more than $1,000 though.

if you look closely there is rust and a very tatty dash covered barely by a dash mat.

The market will decide....
But then again, he's not in the middle of suburbia

My 1st W116, a 350SE had the same colour combo, thistle green with green interior. I'd consider buying it to put the interior in my 6.9 because the seat covers look quite plush as well - to me there's nothing more 1970s than green on green (except milan brown on tan).

Trouble is I'd be too lazy to do the job... you know... good intentions and what not...

Imagine it would be a terrible job changing over the interior, carefully prying the bits of trim off without breaking them.

That is why, when it came time for me to change interiors, I was lucky to have the services (at a reasonnable price) of Styria and Parks.

Two very experienced and willing gentlemen...

From the few scanty pictures we have seen, looks like they did a good job, a light coloured interior I imagine is far harder to get "right" than a simple black interior.

That interior looks correct for a car originally delivered with velour, though I think the colours have faded out from sun. The zebrano console is not correct though - this car originally had black vinyl.

My latest thinking for trusty rusty is black paint, green velour interior. hmm.

I am concerned that I may not be able to do a satisfactory job of metallic (eg Milan) painting at home, so solid colours like black are appealing.

I'm thinking of painting the 280SE soon as a practice run.

Seriously, why don't you wait till you make it down under for painting Trusty Rusty....
As you said, meanwhile, you can practice on the 280SE.

I'm always surprised to see the very short driver's side door handle on Australian spec cars. On ours, the handle is the longer variety with the angled part near the door opener similar to the passenger door of this very car.

Does anyone know why they are different?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the foot operated parking brake versus the umbrella type? I would imagine the full handle might interfere, or even look slightly odd, with the latter.

I also wondered why it was missing...
