Pininfarina 6.3 Coupe

What a find, what a great bit of history, with a number of question marks hanging over the whole project. If memory serves me right, SEL 69L found a 4 door Saloon (no kidding !) and featured it in one of his posts. I don't think that the car here is one and the same. Now I am just hoping that I can paste this video in the hallowed pages of TK. In my opinion, this is a great looking Coupe, and even then quite reminiscent of the much later W126 Coupes. I don't especially like it, but I do like the Bertone Pirana which I think was a better rebody of an existing car by an Italian designer

I knew you would say that car was very handsome Brian.
It’s just as bad as the Camargue
And we all know you also love them.
I miss our discussions on something we are so opposite on.

I’m sorry to say, to me this car and the almost identical Camargue are quite awful.
If you look up any car he designed about the same time they are all so boringly the same.

The Fiat 130 he designed is exactly the same as the others, just a different front end.
The brand usually looked after the interior design,
this is clearly evident by this Merc, the Rolls-Royce & the Fiat 130. They are refreshingly different and brand managed.

The pic you have shown is very similar to the Lamborghini Espada which I really like.
My tastes are obviously quite different. I guess that’s why I find the Merc & Camargue boring.

I also think the Espada is a great looking car. From what I read, as the Pirana never went into production, Gandini re-used his styling proposal for the Espada. The Espada looks even better as the car is better proportioned for the styling. The Pirana, being based on the 2+2 S1 E-Type is a bit narrower and the tall XK engine hampered the front bonnet line.

Very interesting points mate.
I have always liked the Espada since it’s launch.

Not so long ago, they were affordable.
