I noticed this 1986 560SEC AMG for sale.

For sale at Supa Merc in Qld.

AMG made 22 specials of these with quad cam engines.
There are three in Auatralia.

32V and no pic of the engine??? What's the matter with these people???

I have seen a picture of this particular engine in a book.
It is a variation of the standard M117 alloy 5.6 litre engine of the W 126 series, not some re engined modification of the car.

Well, that is one hell of a nice looking car - 560, quad cam engine ? What a collectors item for the true enthusiast - only possible drawback - you'd need to change the camshaft chain and guides NOW - that's if you'd buy the car. Regards Styria

Maybe it is not the real McCoy - I did not see any mention of a 32valve engine in my quick look at the advert.

I have the AMG Brochure of the era and have pictures and specs of the 32 valve motor.

I DON'T think that the car in this thread is a quad cam car.

It does obviously have the AMG dress up kit, but I seriously doubt of it has the AMG special Quad cam M117 engine and drive train. I have spoken to the owner of such a car as the one shown here, with the dress up kit ONLY. In fact, that one was white, and may have been his car.

He was the guy who told me of the numbers produced and the number that was in Australia. I reason that his story is true, because if the illustration of the AMG M117 quad cam engine in the book to verify his remarks independently.

There have been a number of W126 coupes that have been re engined privately.

Hong kong cars came over in droves as personal imports when England gave the rock back to the Chinese.

And a lot of these cars have since passed on to new owners so its quite possible the car is imported, Can anyone see a York Motors stock number tag on the radiator support panel?
