Stunning car, although I would prefer the Sc. Pity it doesn't have its luggage, but I could sell them some !

I recall going into the Classic Center in Fellbach and seeing one on the showroom floor. The salesman came over and said "beautiful car isn't it ?". I said yes, but it is a pity they have put the licence plate lights on upside down. He was shocked and disbelieving, and said that he had a customer car in the workshop, so let's go and have a look. Sure enough, the other car was correctly installed, so with his tail between his legs, he disappeared to arrange to have it corrected.

It is a simply superb Motor Car, although I have some reservation concerning colour match of exterior vs. interior. Of course, a matter of personal choice and preference.

We have restored the interior of one of these 300 Saloons, and the complexity of the seats and door trims is mind-blowing. There must have been hundreds of tiny tacks we had to remove in the dismantling process, and the complexity of the door trims, and the side pockets, is unbelievable. Regards. Styria

It's the quality you don't see in the older cars like the 300 that make them special. I remember being shown the head light rings on a old 911 years ago and being surprised when I found they were brass. It's details like that that are missing on newer cars that leave me cold.

Well Geoff, you're raising a fair point - for instance, if you looked at the headlight rings of a Rover P5 Saloon/Coupe (1959 to 1973), they were also highly chromed units made of brass. However, just be open minded and consider the headlight styling and features on the modern cars - don't you think that they are very special in quality and intricacy ? As I said, approach the subject matter with an open mind and open eyes. . Regards. Styria

Sorry Styria plastic head light lens and there rapid fading don't do it for me . I know it makes intricate shapes more achievable . But they are throw away cars with no chance of future ownership or value. Look at what you got for your Statesman or the fact W220 are now starting to appear under $10000 . which means any electrical fault will consign it to crusher as hvac or airmatic suspension could exceed car value . Have a look at problems W140 owners or W210 Have getting parts as electrical parts fail . As I said people will not repair thing nowadays getting trades people who can repair not just replace is becoming harder as well . They teach fault finding and replacement mostly to new apprentices not actually how to repair.
