Perhaps some of you may recall my admiration for the 300SL of that vintage - 1952, rightly famous for some of their Sports Car Racing achievements, but of course they were also the forerunners of the 300 Gullwing Coupe.
The gallery of pictures hereunder simply pay homage to what was, and is, a magnificent Motor Car. Note the design of the chassis tubes, the exterior shape - why, even the generator in one of the pictures, still used fourteen years later in a 300SEL Finnie Saloon that I owned back in probably 1979. That was a magnificent Family Car. BTW, if you look closely, you will see the water pump being driven by the generator by means of a flexible coupling. All this a mere seven years after the Second World War hostilities. Unbelieveable. Regards Styria
