Jaguar with Benz drivetrain

Interesting, it's not a Jaguar but a Daimler. He also claims 250 bhp from the 350 engine, but he did not do the conversion work so mistakes can be excused I suppose.

It's certainly a nice car and obviously a lot of work and time have been put into it. One however needs to question whether in fact it is worth the money being asked. I have my doubts. Regards Styria

You would have to have rocks in your head to pay that kind of money for that!!! :eek:

Hi Benz Boy, I wonder if there is such an animal as a perfectly good Jaguar ? To my mind come the models produced in the seventies and eighties. I have read in magazines that workers at the factory built faults into the cars which necessitated warranty claims. This was in retaliation due to unsuccessful wage and working conditions.

I recall quite distinctly that the Managing Director of the Company purchased a 450SE or SEL in an effort to find out why Mercedes were building the best car in the world at the time ! Yet, look at the 450s today (the money they fetch) and how much an equivalent Jaguar will sell for. I shake my head in bewilderment. Regards Styria

Regardless, the engines pre-Ford were venerable marvels and it seems strange to replace the engine of all things. Anyway, the end result seems of dubious utility to me.
Jaguars were always built down to a price after the demise of Sir William and from that point on lost much of their appeal. Sad really. Leyland managed to kill everything it touched and like many I would willingly call down a plague upon their house.
The new Jaguars leave me cold - not that I have driven one. I wish Tata better luck than Ford.

hummmm well I have test driven a few Jaguars, the XJ? I think? was the best, with the 5.3 V12 and found it to be a pure pleasure, smooth engine, distant rumble of the motor, effortless power, cigar lounge feel, I should have bought it, even in wedding car white.


50 things before you die? well I think one of them for me should be to own a V12 Jaguar.
