BenzBoy, the web page you have brought up succinctly illustrates their beautiful array or selection of their wedding car fleet. Additionally, I have also spotted the open roof of the Sedanca de Ville style arrangement. Regards Styria

I think this is quite a magnificent looking car Styria.
Love the colour.

Is the lower air dam standard on these cars?
Patrick, many years ago I purchased an AMG spoiler/Air Dam from Silver Star Spares. In due course, I had a mould made up which I still have to this day. At that time, I had about ten units made up in Fibreglass, and sold them, painted if so required, for about $380.00 complete. Michel's Red Terror is sporting one of those Air Dams.

Originally, 6.9s only came with a small chin spoiler from the factory. Many 6.9s lost that chin spoiler due to damage when the cars would collapse in the front end for various reasons, and in those days the replacement part from Mercedes was about $140.00, then $220.00, then $360.00 and then Zilch. I experimented with the colour of the double grid above my spoiler. I started off with Black, but in the end I much preferred to Silver to go with the MB877 Petrol Green. It is a pleasant looking unit, and I may as well show it off. I think Michel's is Black, and that's a colour that very well suits the Red of his car. Regards Styria

Lloyds Auction in two weeks, here are my favourites:

Lot 15: 1962 Imperial Coupe

This is a great example of the opulent styling of American cars of the late 50s to early 60s. personally, I think the higher end Chrysler products were some of the best of the era, not only in terms of styling but also engineering. This imperial embodies the excesses of the era and I would be very happy to own it, were I able to house a car almost 6 meters long. The gunmetal grey and salmon colour combo sounds odd to modern standards, but works really well.

1676208861646.png

Lot 405. 1970 Mercedes 280S

Looks like a nice original W108 that could use a bit of a tidy up, but provides a good foundation. Likely delivered in Africa, or a country with bad fuel, as it has the optional low compression engine. Manual transmission

1676209172342.png

Lot 415 W123 230

The 230 Carby is not a very popular model, but this one looks in nice original shape and is in a great colour. It was up last month but I didn't get a chance to see what the final bid was.

1676209306165.png

Lot 420 W123 280CE

These early 280CE's are really special with the unique burl walnut trim, chrome window switches etc. The later cars are just not as nice a place to be. This one is in a good colour and it looks pretty good from the photos. I also think I have seen this car for sale before.

Lot 437 - 1989 300E

One of the last ones before the facelift, this car has a good spec (leather on a series 1) and apparently low miles. Could be a very good starter classic or even daily driver.

1676209552119.png
1676209578200.png

Lot 440 - W126 300SE

Nice colour and desirable late spec. Had a cheap respray as they couldn't get the badge position right.

1676209640628.png

Lot 441 - S124 300TE wagon

The 300TE is not as common as the 230TE or E220, and this series 2 is a nice colour combo. Could use a tidy up but othewise looks like a decent foundation.

Another cheap respray with the badge. Modern wheels look odd, the 8 holes look a lot better if you want the more modern look.

Lot 505 - 1964 Lancia Flavia

One for Brian, i don't know much about these, but it has a very nice design. Barn find. I doubt it would be cheap to restore.

Lot 507 - 1968 Lancia Flavia

This one a four door, not the same flowing lines as the two door, but a handsome car. And probably in better shape than the first one. Red interior is a bonus

I really couldn't walk away from the Imperial Coupe. What a splendid car - no - what a work of Art essentially. The other car to really appeal to my tastes is the Lancia Flavia. I had the privilege to drive an example with the five speed Manual, and it was uncanningly quiet and effortless in which it drove. I suspect the quietness was achieved by the design of the mechanicals, with the engine being located well forward from the Firewall.

Lloyds results this month. Nothing jumped out at me this time from the mercedes section.

The two w116s were not that great. the blue d-jet 450 was very tired and the silver-green 450 was very high km and a bit tatty. prices seemed fair for what they were.

The 300 3.5 was a great colour combo, but I wasn't a fan of the new orange leather and it didn't look like a car that had been well looked after:

There are three W116's coming up at the shannons auction.

Obviously there is my 280SE I have covered before.

1684412867431.png

Next there is a 73 280S. Its only in average condition and has high mileage, but the X factor it has is a red interior, which looks pretty good.

I think the guiding range is a little high for the condition and mileage, but the red interior could be a drawcard. Being an early 280S it has the thin door cards. It is at least optioned with A/C and a sunroof, which were not standard on these at the time.

1684412973594.png

Next is 6.9 6431.

This car has been around to various auction sites over the last year or so. We discussed it here, but it was listed with a different VIN then: https://www.topklasse.org/forums/threads/6-9-6486.7598/ It looks like it was put together from a bunch of cars.

There are also some other Mercedes coming up:

Lot 172: 350SL. An early car that has been badly tarted up to look like a later one. The later fron spoiler has been badly added on top of the original one. It shows signs of rust and is missing trim. Being an early car I think it should have the fluid coupling four speed auto, but I'm not interested enough to look it up in the EPC. Interior is tatty and looks like a dog ate part of the rear seat. Has a speedo change so the mileage is irrelevant. it's a shame as these early cars have a real charm about them, but this one is mongrel. No reserve. Guide 15-25k

1684413596036.png

Lot 176: 1965 220SE Finnie. A german built car in black, rare 220SE. This one is auto, althgough shannons incorrectly list it as a 3 speed.
Overall it looks in great condition and I would be happy to own it. The fuel pump setup is rather odd though. Guide 30-40k

1684413812598.png

Lot 179 - 1971 350SL. Another early SL, this one in a far more attractive blue. Its had a paint job and interior work. The blue seats look completely out of place in a brown interior. Paint looks good other than those horrible rust traps on the wheel arches. And the heatrests are a different shade of blue and don't match at all. Looks like a dogs breakfast. Still, if you just put the front seats back to the proper brown, it would be quite a nice car. Says they are not sure if it was aussie delivered, but its clearly not. Suspension rubber quite perished. No good picture of teh speedo, but if I had to guess its not correct. Guide 45-55. I think that seems high.

1684413905381.png

Lot 182 - 250SL 1967
Looks like a very tidy Pagoda. Unfortunately an automatic. Guide 180-230k. Very attractive colour combo in very nice shape. Modern radio stands out and is hideous. Has a custom rear seat that would not be legal. The factory one was quite different. overall a very nice australian delivered car.

1684414347933.png

Lot 192: 1990 300SE W126.

This is a really nice 300SE, and the 300SE & 380SE are the best value W126 models out there. This is a later one with the bumpy cake interior and I think is a huge amount of car for the guiding range of 5-10k. Its in smoke silver which is a very popular colour, although not my favorite. I would by happy to own this car.

1684414468654.png

Lot 195: W140 S320.
I dont' really get the appeal of the six cylinder W140. Whereas the 300SE W126 is light on its feet and nimble, the W140 is not and the six just doesn't have enough power for this leviathan. Plus the wiring harness and head gasket issues mean it makes far more sense to buy a V8 if you want a W140 - especially as W140s are not especially expensive. Don't track the value of these, but the guidng range of 15-20k seems high to me. it is in very nice shape and the colour combo grew on me more as I looked at the photos.

1684414621723.png

Lot 199 - 320CE Cabriolet.

This is an immaculate example in a lovely colour. And a 320 rather than the anemic 220. The guiding range of 30-40k seems low to me. I would be very happy to own this car and they are so rare I think you would do well in the long term.
