In any case its not my car, I just know how people who like W116s generally also like all vintage V8 MBs.

It certainly looks like its been in a shed for a while, but I think its likely that the odometer is at least on the second, if not the third round. However, it might simply be covered in dirt and missing a wheel trim... you never know.

Just bear in mind, 116Benz, that white walled Pirelli 77's are about twenty years old. Never a good tyre, dealers used to love putting them on Benzes just for show. Car looks stunning, picture details are woeful - I would love to see the trim job on this car. abl567 would know what I am talking about. Regards Styria

That would be correct, but apart from the engine number, nothing in the ad points out that it is a 4.5 litre engine.
Do you think it's a typo, or he doesn't know what he is talking about?
Maybe we should ask for a picture of the engine bay?

Have emailed the seller advising him that according to the engine number its a 4.5 litre. Got a response espousing the virtues of the car finishing with a "its a 3 speed auto and are you sure its a 4.5 litre?"

So I requested a picture of the engine and said that if it has blue injectors its most likely a 4.5 That was a few days back and I mentioned that I wasn't really interested in buying the car, just wanted to help positively identify the engine, as he probably has a very rare car and it would be in his interest to advertise the fact of the bigger motor.

As a performance car enthusiast I would buy one with a bigger motor and euro headlights over one with a smaller motor and american headlights, if you see what i mean.

If I hear from him I'll post his response.
