It probably is top dollar Tim, the question is should it be? I don't think so but remember that Milan Brown 6.9 that sold at Shannon's about 2 years ago, great interior, 15" Bundts, a really well presented example and someone got a steal at, I think, $9500

Yes I remember that 6.9 Ant I was on Christmas Island while auction was on. As for current 6.9 as you know that price would require current service records and rust free body. if it has those it may be worth that but only personal inspection would confirm.

Ah, that Milan Brown car was an absolute steal at that money - we resprayed that car with Standox paint and clear (it was rust free save for a tiny rust bubble next to the roof gutter), new interior including seats carpets, door trims, parcel shelf, it was perfect suspension wise, I supplied and fitted the re painted 15" Bundts, and it was only the engine that had a slight question mark against one of the cylinders. It never showed up under normal driving. That car was well above the car advertised presently referred to in condition - as Tim says, the upholstery is only just about 65 per cent at best. plus, those AMG hammers (?) just don't do it for me. BTW, I wonder where that car finished up ? At the time, Benz Boy inspected the car, and could have bought it. Shame he didn't.

...well yes Geoff, you're spot on. The "Hammers" were on another 6.9 just very recently advertised. Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways.

Talking about the somewhat worn backseat - I can't explain what I can only describe as a phenomenen. Just about all 'original' leather rear seats suffer from collapsed horsehair padding and torn callico that holds the pleats together. I recently had quite a famous and well known 6.9 in my car - quite low mileage, and the owner mentioned to me that the rear seat had been re-upholstered (repaired) by Perfect Auto Body Works at a cost of $750.00. We used to charge $350.00 - some difference - and that is a low mileage car. Regards Styria

I know what you're saying Mark, but how then do you explain that back seats, fitted with MB Tex, are not nearly as prone to this deterioration as the leather seats ? Furthermore, the same applies to velour - it does not attract the same problem.

Also, earlier models, such as the 109, were also free of that problem. Finnies even better again. No, I reckon there was some sort of a quality problem in some way. Regards. Styria

....it's also downright uncomfotable - with a badly worn backseat, you're almost sitting atop of the metal bodywork of the car. You can also feel every spring - not nice. With your 6.9s, Mark, do you have the same problem ? Blue Flame, from what I remember, but actually in not too bad a condition. What's she like today ? Regards Styria
