Hi Allabasi, those prices are certainly very reasonable - even the brand new pump at, was it $425.00 ? Anyway, that pump in Oz country would be that close to $1500.00, if not more. It's a while since I have priced one, but that's what you hear on the grapevine.

Just as an aside, and a question from a guy that knows very little on how to sell, and what's attractive on ebay - your 'buy now price'. I look at that, and it takes me back to a lot of Minolta Camera equipment I was trying to sell. I put on a firm price of $A 450.00 but had no bids whatsoever. I got to thinking 'okay, have I taken all the fun out of my auction or, more importantly, have I stopped the initial bargain hunters and then perhaps the 'real buyers' ? Anyone have any comment on my line of thinking ? Regards Styria

Hey Styra

Oddly enough, that pump did not sell, yet the old spare that I had that looked original, was grotty and only good for rebuilt went for $102!

I can only suspect that the buyer was a re-builder because I priced rebuilds and they are right around $450 + core. One would have thought that the new pump would have made more sense.

That pump is now going to go on my 6.3 and my old 6.3 pump will go on eBay.

It's getting harder and harder to sell on eBay. The fees are getting up there and in many cases, international shipping creates more problems then it's worth either because buyers get sticker shock when they see the cost of shipping or items get damaged in transit through no fault of you or the buyer, but of course, you as the seller will be expected to resolve the issue.

This is why I am now reluctant to ship overseas.

That said, eBay is a great marketing tool and is still the biggest player in town.

I sell by following these rules:

1) Put lots of large, detailed pictures of my items
2) Describe it as well as I can
3) Sell it for the bare minimum that I am willing to take for it.

I may not be able to get the best price or sell the items, but it does allow me to continue to keep positive feedback.

I also have a pile of old Minolta MF and AF cameras and lenses that I could get rid off.
