Thanks for the tip Motec.
That could have been embarrassing as I am now at the Qantas Club, awaiting a 6am wheels up.
Pants up, will be a better look for sure

I’m happy to report that all number plates I thought stolen during the burglary 18months ago were located yesterday. While searching for something else in the back of a shipping container I found a sealed box behind furniture. To my joy I discovered the plates & realised I must’ve relocated them with concerns of theft in my mind. And by doing so I promptly forgot I’d moved them and basically hid them from myself!!!

Not helped by the fact the original box labeled plates was emptied by the crooks so it had me convinced they’d been taken. Pity I still can’t remember what was actually in that box! Ah the joys of getting old with an obviously fading memory! Or just thinking about too much stuff... I should probably have a good clean up & reorganise soon!!!:rolleyes:

Hopefully the sale of some will finance the manifold fabrication!

You know you have too many Mercs outside when you’re standing out the front of your shed & a clean white W126 with AMG wheels drives past & honks their horn! Never seen the car before & I don’t know the driver! Totally random! :D:rolleyes::cool::eek:

Lol shame that! My aim is to have all under cover so I can stop dealing with wind-shredded tarps! As we all know these cars hate being out in the Aussie elements for long periods & they pose a security risk with the perception of wealth locked away in the shed....:(

Nearing the end of some holidays & the few remaining days will be very interesting...

Checking out what I hope is a 450SE today (but it’s green),
Swapping some wheels tomorrow so I can have a full set for sale,
Dropping in on my EFI suppliers tomorrow,
Dropping in on the Targa 450 owner tomorrow for some more info,
Searching for some number plates on Sat & going nuts on a boot lock, ignition barrel & manifold.

Whew!

Sounds like a lot. is the 450SE a car to be used or a parts car?

I’m currently searching for a good candidate for a M119 conversion. I have the drivetrain, just need a decent chassis with a nice colour combo.

I always thought that would be a cool project for 'the ultimate daily driver'. I would:

1) Start with a late SWB W126 v8
- probably a 420SE as 500SEs are rare here
- soft leather interior
- Not equipped with ASR
- ideally equipped with manual climate control
2) Install the KE Jet M119 5.0 out of a 89-91 SL
3) LSD
4) 722.6 with electronic controller for 5 speed transmission
5) 16" wheels & potentially bigger brakes
6) upgraded radio with bluetooth handsfree etc
7) leather steering wheel (if not already equipped)

Find a W208 CLK320 to bung it in, that'd be a blast. My CLK430 was under 1400kg IIRC.

I agree...
The CLK is one of the most under appreciated cars

I like your ideas & they’re usually more likely to be rust free (ish)! But I think the 450 just looks tougher!

Having sinus/cold issues for over a month & being tested for COVID twice isn’t fun, but I think I’ve fought through & now the interesting stuff starts with my SEL EFI conversion & M119 SEC coupe project. I think I need to stop biting & start chewing like crazy!!

Oh and I have more than enough wheels to sink a ship so I’ll start selling some items soon...
