W116 Sheet Metal Thickness

Gday all, I have a 450SEL that I have just brought home to Canberra from the Gold Coast.

I need to do some rust repairs to her, does anyone know what thickness sheet metal is on the outside (under doors and rear quarters). I could also be swayed into paying for it to be fixed if anyone could recommend a repairer in the ACT that isn't too expensive.

Nice car. I don't have the answer to your question, but I'm sure others do.

These cars can hide rust pretty well, so have you also checked around the rear windscreen, sills, wheel arches, bootlid etc? These areas that are known to rust. Also if the car has a sunroof (which most 450SEL do) check around the drains.

Gday, yep checked a few of those spots, the car is actually pretty good, I just need to fix up a few patches for rego at this stage. Full blown resto might come down the track.
