Shannons Auction Feb 2019

I went by and looked at the lots today during my lunch break. As usual Shannons have done a nice job of assembling a range of cars to suit all tasts and budgets:

The code name for the 20 H.P. when it was being planned was Goshawk.

I note the FIAT 2300 wagon did not make your cut. I owned a 2300 Lusso sedan for a number of years and regret having sold it to a collector at the time I was scrounging cents for real estate. It was built as solidly as a Sherman tank, cruised like a Pershing missile and was so very, very comfortable with its genuine moquette veloute carpets and wonderful deep tan leather seats. I have a photo of it arriving at Old Parliament House in Canberra just after an Auto Italia day; I'll digitise and post. it.
Ah; that is one car I do miss.

I would be interested in seeing what the saloon looks like. To be honest, I didn't pay the fiat a whole lot of attention, it just looked like a big old station wagon.

BenzBoy, that 2300Sedan was an absolute "peach" of a car. Beautifully finished, very modern shape for its time and that 2300 engine ran like a sweet sewing machine. It takes my mind back to when, in Austria in the mid fifties, Fiat's car then, other than the Topolino, had the Fiat 1900. Again, a very beautifully finished car, especially the convertible version. I might just go and "google" that car. Regards Styria

Perhaps not to everyone's taste but, wow ! Almond and Crème. The ones that are privy to this colour combination understand what I am referring to. Regards Styria

Almond and cream are just beautiful colours.
The FIAT 1100, 1500, 2300 were extraordinarily high quality cars. The earlier 1900 was just beautiful.
In the 1960s the Italians built true machines of the road.

Interesting price for the S Class. I sold a Manual with O/d which I fixed . It was very sluggish engaging the O/D Sold maybe 5 years ago and I struggled to get $17k for it. It was a good clean car. The Gearbox was Jaguars own, a far cry from the clunky Moss Boxes. I kept it for only one year as try as I may I could not eradicate the slight vibration at 100ks. Rebuild Drive Shaft..... realign Rear engine adjustable mount.... new rear G/B mounts.... new tires etc. All to no avail. The only car that has beaten me! Jaguars with two piece Drive Shafts have always been problematic........." I tell myself ".
